About Ososo Carnival
Discover the rich history and cultural significance of one of Nigeria's most vibrant celebrations
Our History
The Ososo Carnival was established in 2010 as a way to celebrate and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Ososo community in Edo State, Nigeria. What began as a small local festival has grown into one of the region's most anticipated annual events, drawing visitors from across Nigeria and beyond.
Founded by a group of community leaders and cultural enthusiasts, the carnival was created to showcase the unique traditions, arts, music, and dance of the Ososo people. The founders recognized the importance of preserving these cultural elements for future generations while also creating economic opportunities through tourism.
Over the years, the carnival has evolved to include more diverse performances, expanded its duration, and incorporated modern elements while staying true to its cultural roots. Today, the Ososo Carnival stands as a testament to the community's resilience and commitment to celebrating their heritage.
